Why Doctors Often Diagnose Your Preschool Child With Limited Information

It is almost impossible to clearly understand early childhood behavioral issues unless you slow down and observe a child at school, during play, and in interaction with peers. Yet most pediatricians, psychiatrists, and neurologists do not have time for this in making their diagnosis.

How Classroom Behavioral Observations Can Help Fill in the Gaps

If your preschooler is having behavioral challenges at school, we start with an intake meeting with you to get a full developmental history. Then we spend between one and three hours (depending on the nature of the concern) observing your child at their preschool program and interviewing their teachers.  Behavioral observations are then comprehensively detailed in a report for your family, along with specific follow up recommendations for home and the school environment.  Ideas are shared for any additional outside professional services, such as occupational or speech therapy, that might be indicated.

Children want the same things we want. To laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained, and delighted.
